Transitions - Planning for success
When a new Standard is published there is usually a period of transition during which organizations review their current system configuration and identify improvements/enhancements to meet the new requirements.

ISO/IEC 17025:2017
The current transition of interest to all test laboratories and calibration laboratories is ISO/IEC 17025:2017. The transition period was three years from date of publication which puts the deadline at November 2020.

AACS is fully conversant in the new Standard and is actively assisting laboratories to transition through a three stage process:

Stage 1: Perform an off-site review of the laboratory's current procedures manuals and management policies, including terms and conditions.

Stage 2: Attend on-site to perform a gap analysis audit of the laboratory using ISO/IEC 17025:2017 as the measure. This is different to a normal internal audit because we are focused on the Standard rather than assessing implementation of the lab's own documented procedures. We produce a detailed report that identifies compliance and any opportunities for improvement.

Stage 3: Where opportunities for improvement are identified we will assist management to coordinate the best solution, combining practicality with conformity.
